My dad loved golf. Over the 70+ years that he played, he recorded 29 verified and witnessed holes-in-one. He shot his age fifteen years in a row, starting in 1986, when he was 68, to 2001 when he was 83. Harry was very proud of the two victories we shared in the CSGA Father-Son Championship.
The desire to honor his memory and love of the game is the force behind the Harry Nowobilski Memorial Celebrity Amateur Golf Tournament. I know that my dad would be very proud to have his name associated with an event that gives back to the game he loved so much.
The success of this tournament in raising funds for the CT PGA Foundation and all of its Junior Golf, Special Olympic and First Tee programs has been extraordinary. Since its inception, the tournament has contributed over $185,000 the Foundation.
Our goal is to make this a fun event for everyone involved. We really appreciate the fact that all of the celebrities playing this year as well as those who have played in the past have taken time out of their busy schedules to be part of this great tournament.
We also want to thank all of the amateurs. Without their participation, there would be no tournament. It is their continued support that has made this one of the premier events at Tallwood and has allowed us to honor my dad’s memory and support the CT PGA Foundation.
I would also personally like to thank all of the volunteers who have given their time to make this event happen. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to make an event like this work. All of their efforts are greatly appreciated.
I know that my mom and dad will be watching over this year’s event with big smiles on their faces.
